Edited 9 days agoI got this one by chance in a department store in rural Virginia in 1980 (still have it in NM condition) and always thought it sounded quite good. Recently, for a lark, I have compared this to two different 1971 pressings, and a Pittman is dark, with recessed drums and a generally "is this a third generation cassette copy?!" kind of sound; a 1971 Monarch is better. My judgment: a) people who complain about some early pressings of this are *not* hyper-sensitive and b) the 1977 Speciality pressing (I am not sure which others have this same master etc.) is much better.

Very good. Sound is dynamic. There are better pressings but you’ll pay much higher prices while this pressing is very good and likely more affordable. Worth seeking out.

I have A/B tested this press vs an OG, and it’s much bigger and brighter. Really highlights drums and vocals
