On my copy the outer ring has a 4 after the C instead of a 3
Everyone needs to actually listen to this on a actual sacd player. This album is the only reason I bought one.
And yes, there are cracks… -
Wow, every comment on this disc contradicts the other comments. One saying Flat and dull, another compressed and loud, another perfect, and another claiming the horridly reviewed MFSL is so great. And no one playing the 5.1 layer which is the main reason many bought this disc. And no one complaining about the cracks appearing in the inner ring of the Crest National pressings - so common of this era at Crest.
-
The sound is just incredible. Luckily I only have a stereo system, cause the 5.1 surround mix might cause a psychotic break *chuckles*. Only regret would be that that they could have used the normal album cover and used the stained-glass cover in the booklet.

Edited 2 years agoJust listening to this sacd again after listening to the DSOTM Immersion box set 5.1 audio. This sacd sounds amazing. It is at least as good or better than the 2 channel original mix on the DSOTM box set blue ray. I have it playing in 2 channel and all I can say is there is no need to purchase the new .
Listening via Audeze LCD-XC and switching back and forth to my Grado PS500's just for fun...LOL. On another note the MOFI gold disc has a better sound to both of these. More natural less "digital glassy" feel -
Whoa. Just picked up this today.
Very flat, no dynamics, sound stage is terribly muddy, and the low end is way too overpowering, and I grew up with 90's hip hop. -
Done in full loudness war the sound is quite compressed to my liking and feels especially in voices that do not breathe well ... that ends up depleting the ears if heard with headphones.

Edited 6 years agoIf CD is your preferred format then this is the best sound recording of DSOM you could ever have.
