I have the original version signed by the band, actually most of their vinyl discography signed by them. Long funny story on how that happened.
I wonder how much they could go for…. -
Just picked up a nice copy of this still with the Our Price label from 1988. Its not the most dynamic of pressings but it sounds pretty good for 34 years old. Not gonna complain at 20 quid as this so far has never seen a reissue. Don't know why the Elysium reissue by Beggars last year sounded great.

Edited 3 years agoThe Fields of the Nephilim are an interesting band for me. I find their occult cowboy schtick pretentious and sort of tacky, yet some of their songs are exceptional, and they certainly spawned a crossover between metal and the gothic that has been influential. For me, however, their major limitation was the hard and thin or otherwise poor sound of most of their recordings. "The Nephilim" is a classic album that contains some of the Neph's best songs ("Moonchild", for instance), but a murky, phasey and undynamic vinyl. I wonder if the cds or vinyl remaster sound better than this original? I tend to surmise this because some of the eps that this album spawned sound ok on vinyl. Generally remasters seldom improve on the original, but it may just be time for another remaster in this case.

Iconic album with some of their best material. This is an OK pressing but hoping for a repress in the future that truly does it justice or it's over to the 1989 issue I go.

Hi guys,
is there anyone out there who knows if the sound of the remastered version of ´89 sounds fuller and better than the orginal release from ´88? Thanks
