Notes
This UK front cover design differs from the German issue and was thought to have been designed by Barney Bubbles (aka Colin Fulcher) who subsequently designed covers for Stiff Records, however, the Barney Bubbles Estate has confirmed that the cover art is not by Bubbles. It uses additional fluorescent and metallic inks, plus regular colours for the back cover photo, as well as blind embossing on the title lettering and circuit board pattern.

Edited 11 months agoA good album to chill to, in my opinion. Hated it when I first got a copy, and that's over 30 years ago (in my 20's). But, as my taste in music has changed (and I'm a bit more music-wise, now), this holds its own. Definitely to be filed under 'Krautrock', and you can detect elements of freeform jazz in it (much like the Tone Float album, which is also a really good chill-out album), but you can see how Ralf and Florian developed the Kraftwerk sound into what is now fully appreciated globally, since the release of Computerworld 43 years ago
I paid about 10 quid for this. Sleeve has a little minor spotting on the sleeve, but there's no other wear and tear, and the vinyl is just about pristine
I play the bootleg pic disc more than this, and that sounds great, apart from the obvious surface noise you get on those pressings -
Edited 8 years agoThis is very different than their later work but still pretty interesting. Its also very different than even Autobahn which would be released a year later. Kristallo seems like the track that sounds the most like later Kraftwerk.

If you were familiar with Kraftwerk prior to their universal "props" during the techno age, you may be aware that most press coverage states that the only good Kraftwerk album was "Autobahn". I had read that for most of my life and twenty five years of press stated that. But I assure you, corporate-controlled media never knows what its talking about and it will say what it wants to to further their agenda no matter how diabolical or misdirected. What their agenda is exactly was always just beyond me! I have three Kraftwerk albums, have heard several others and do know this - the media is wrong! This album is actually better than Autobahn by a few degrees. That's entirely subjective but I feel this one has the overall advantage of more flavor. I love the writing on this album. Now don't get me wrong, I first heard Autobahn in 1975 when I was three years old, it will always hold a place in my heart, but this album is a class act. Do give it a listen. It is excellent!
