[Uncredited Info]:
The actor Eric Emerson, protagonist of some multimedia films projected behind the group during the EPI, filed a lawsuit against the record label for the non-payment of the rights regarding his image that can be seen upside down on the back cover on this version. So between March and April 1967 the album was suddenly withdrawn from trade and shops. After a few months, the album was redistributed in a few copies with a huge sticker that covered the top of the offending photo and that you can see here The Velvet Underground & Nico (3) - The Velvet Underground & Nico.

I have what I believe is a 1972 reissue. I bought it used, in a record store, in the mid 70s. It's got some typos on the side 2 label - "Herion" and "John Gale." I don't see any mentions of these misspellings in any of the descriptions for '72 issues. Could be a counterfeit...but in the early 70s, would anybody have bothered to bootleg a VU album? At that point I think they were still a pretty low-selling product. The runout pretty much matches this:
    Matrix / Runout (Side A runout): V5008 SIDE-1 MGS-558 REV 15 block-shaped "S"
    Matrix / Runout (Side B runout): V5008 SIDE-2 MGS-559-RE-1 3 block-shaped “S”

I have this L P with what is called the Eric Emerson cover. This is the cover that was replaced by the banana cover. Same record. Not a gatefold. Pre banana cover. I believe this to be very rare. Any thoughts are welcome.

Strange item: a stereo reissue with a gatefold cover that has NO PHOTOS of the band and Warhol printed on the inside gatefold. It's all WHITE. I'm tempted to say this is a bootleg, because the outer front has a narrow 3-inch-long bubble in the cardboard...however, I bought this item new (cellophane-wrapped) way back in 1979 at a reputable record store that sold only new records. Any thoughts, anyone?

Looking for just a cover. Will take any. (Torso, brushed or sticker). Any stage of banana peeling. Pretty much any condition. Let me know if you have one! [email protected]

I have this one and it was the start of my collection from 1983 onwards. I have cd's and lp's of this in various degrees.
This copy has on the 'Chair/Breaking glass' part of 'European Son' the most 'atmospheric/bouncing' sound.
It is less clear on other copies. I don't know why it is but this was one of my first dissapointments with cd, as I believed in
cd (till a degree I still do) . I was used to listen at this Dutch print and found the cd (first time they came out) a bit dissapointing.
Though I did not compare this yet to the later re-masters. The sound of the vinyl may have some flaws but it streams just more natural from the stereo.

I'd like to ask if there are any vinyl releases of this album with glossy cover?

Because about 1,200 have it and 5,000 want it. Supply vs. Demand. Pure and simple. Of course, this means VG+ Vinyl & VG+ Sleeve, and 100% non-peel of the sticker.

PSA: A head and arms is NOT a torso. Please stop calling this a "torso" cover and refer to a human anatomy chart. That is all. Thank you.

A classic album for sure. I bought mine at action, online, for a fair price at the time.

Is there an LP reissue w/ the peelable banana sticker anyone can recommend?
