Silver is a great color for your vehicle, when you are too lazy to wash it occasionally. But it's a terrible color for owning a vinyl record. I can't see dusts or marks that easy. Sure, I just use a brush and it collects dusts anyway, but no idea when it's time for deep cleaning. Both discs are so lightweight it's making me paranoid lol. I bought it as a cheat code to simply have their hits in one album, but I have a feeling I will have to buy their 90s albums separately some time in the future.
Quality sounded good to me first, but now I've noticed some noise and crackling sounds in the background at parts where the song doesn't go full blast. Great list of songs but I wish Voodoo People was not a remix but the actual original track.
I'm gonna give this 4 stars. -
My copy has a heave warp on disc one.
Additionally each side of the album is of different volume. When recorded to Audacity side C is the loudest with side B being close while the sides A and D are much lower. -

Edited one year agoGreat pressing. Clean and crisp sound. Though they should have staid true to the original release versions of the songs, in particular with Voodoo People and Poison. Charly is actually quite unlistenable in this version. Like some drunkard tried a nostalgic remake.

The barcode is the same for the black or silver, often silver ones don’t have stickers stating it’s silver & no seller seems to know what they have or selling them pot luck- so seems it’s impossible to get a black version, since no one is selling them unsealed or willing to open them & apparently every one for sale in 2022 is still brand new & sealed!

This shit bumps. Clean, clean dynamic sound with tight punchy lows that does the music justice. I have the CD although I haven't done a side by side yet. I just took a star off because I don't think the comp truly reflects their best material. There are selections off TFOTL and AONO that should have been included - Diesel Power, Climbatize, Memphis Bells, Action Radar, The Way It Is. But I get it...you rarely get all the goods on these sorts of comps to avoid cannibalization.

Does anyone elses copy skip at 1 min 27 secs on C1 - Charly? The rest of the album is fine except that specific section that jumps ahead about 3 seconds

The selection of songs on this album are great, however the person who did the mastering both for the CD and LP version of this album clearly have been over-saturating the recording with bass and loudness. If you listen closely to "Voodoo People" from this recording you can hear that the hi-hat in the background is distorted and nothing like the original recording of this song.
-
I normally don't buy greatest hits but it's hard not too, with so many great songs on one album. The latter albums are no where as good as the albums up to Fat of the Land, so to get this is a good option to complete your collection, without having the weaker albums that came later in their career.

Discs are centered, flat and quiet but it‘s only 132 gr instead of the d 180 gr. Sound is ok, not more. Sounds more compressed to my ears than the CD versions. Both inner sleeves came with a seam split as the paper is cheap and super-thin.
