Haven't seen this brought up before, but the US CD of Orbital 2 is clearly been remastered compared to the UK CD.
Seems to have gotten some noticeable compression and limiting that the UK lacks. Pretty loud for 93, but not loudness war'd, not even really distorted much. Other than some extremely minor differences (silent channels have a bit of on the US), they're otherwise seemingly the same. Side by side with the volume adjusted, the US EQ is a bit beefier, but not by much.
Normally it'd be a no brainer to go with a more dynamic version, but I think both have their merits. UK isn't limp by any means, but people might prefer the extra heft of the US. This is banging club music we're talking about. Besides, neither is a bad option. You're getting one of the bona fide masterpieces of techno either way. -
I’ve never wrote a review before and probably will never again but heres an album you can turn on and let it play throughout without having to to skip and wish a certain track would hurry the fuck up and finish, which by any dance albums standards is an amazing feet in itself. The Brown ALBUM is a truly remarkable LP that can change the mood of a cosy evening in beside the fire or a club packed with 1,500 people to a stadium of twenty thousand people. I truly wish that music like this was still made today and that more people would recognise the importance and significance of this release and try to emulate it with today’s technology. I seen orbital many times in huge arenas and enjoyed their performances albeit out of my face on drugs and never really ed what they played. It wasn’t until later life I bought and ed a few albums did I really appreciate and respect their music that bit more. Orbital I salute you for being one of the best dance acts EVER.
Peace

Edited 19 years agoAhhh the Brown Album. The Brown Album gives uncounted moments of joy. All hail the Brown Album in all its splendor. Excellent pop techno, made for the mad for it masses that is replete with blistering tracks, trancey breakdowns, ambient wastescapes and lost in the sauce acid noodlings. The complete package.
