Soul singer Luther Vandross received his first success at the beginning of the seventies, when he as twenty year old song writer the closing song A Brand New Day for The movie The Wiz ". Thirty years later again the fifteenth solo album of the singer (in april 2003) but not after he almost succumbed to the effects of a massive stroke. At the time of writing, the condition of Vandross no longer life-threatening but whether he will ever fully recover is the question. Partly because of the publicity surrounding these tragic events came Dance With My Father at number one on the U.S. album charts. Fourteen slick soul songs long proves Vandross again among the best singers of his generation to belong, which he help get from the new crop of stars, including Beyonce, Busta Rhymes, Queen Latifah and Foxy Brown. Most impressive song is the title track, in which Vandross reminisces to his deceased father.
