All Neon Like sounds terrible. At some points I can hardly even understand what she's singing because it just sounds like SSSSSSSSS
-
Got it second hand, the light surface noise was expected but actually very OK. The record is super thin I'm scared it'd break just by holding it, and I second that near the end of each side, distorted sibilance on sss is very obvious, mostly on "All Neon Like", to a point where I believe it shouldn't have been greenlit by the artist/label... Apart from that, it's good and dynamic, I wish the 2x45RPM version was easier to find...

Edited one year agoMine does not suffer from surface noise or sibilance (on a Gyger S tipped Ortofon MC/ SME 3009) double checking my alignment it had been set-up incorrectly by the hifi shop , big improvement in vocal focus and clarity, when set up properly. (Maybe check alignment or get a ML/MR/Paratrace/Gyger/van den Hul stylus if experiencing sibilance).
There is a generous amount of bass in this recording, I'm sure the 2 x 45rpm would improve fidelity, not sure if this one is much of an improvement over the CD.
As others have mentioned thinner pressing
-
great album and the pressing is stunning, i held it up to the light and SCREAMED it has a beautiful marble to it. it sounds good for not being the heaviest record!

The vinyl is thin but sound wise isn’t terrible. It has some punch to it and the dynamics are nice for what it is. It does suffer static on parts and some sibilance, but it’s not the worst sounding vinyl I’ve heard.
I do have a problem with how flimsy the outer sleeve is - it’s almost paper thin. It baffles me how the release with Made in on the back from the same year got a nice cardboard jacket and high quality print (almost metallic looking), but the coloured limited editions for Debut & Homogenic got ones that look and feel like they were made out of paper mache!! (Post actually got a good quality jacket). This one is so scanned it’s as if they made these off the back of a photocopier.
Overall I think they missed the mark with this colour release. You’re better off saving your pennies and getting the black 2015 Made in release (not the UK one) if you can. -
I was excited to get the 1st three Bjork albums for this reissue campaign. I am not totally sure what people do to their records or stereo, but I am really not hearing the quality issues commenters are mentioning here. My only gripe is how thin these are, it's almost comical. But they sound great. I turned the volume up high and I do not hear anything close to what is being said here. The going secondary price? That's for you to decide, but don't skip on these if you want them due to the complaints here.
-
ha how's the prices put on these?!
it's not a great sounding record- extremely sibilant especially towards the last couple tracks on each side -
Could anyone double check the runouts please?
Mine (which is green) matches with all the descriptions above but its runouts are as follows:
Matrix / Runout (Etched Side A): BFgO199-01 A1 MCD TPLP71
Matrix / Runout (Etched Side B): BFgO199-01 B1 MCD TPLP71
Matrix / Runout (Label Side A): TPLP71LTD-A
Matrix / Runout (Label Side B): TPLP71LTD-B
practically the same as this(black) pressing:

the sound quality on this is really bad. especially on side a. theres a lot of surface noise and clicks and pops especially on all neon like, however side b is way better. gorgeous record though
