Just picked up this pressing. Wow. Not cheap but worth every penny. I love this album and have never heard it like this.

Why don’t they do another audiophile treatment of Crime of the Century? That’s their best album, by the band own ission.

Edited 6 days agoThis has NO equal. Compared to my UK OG and 2018 MoFi, neither of them sounds close to this in of the treble response and overall consistency of tonality throughout. This is like owning an unused mastertape. The most recent MOFI does perhaps slightly edge it for soundstage width but thats it, in every other respect it is humbled... this has the depth of sound i prefer and the treble remains unbroken and clean. Not only that but the Nimbus compounds once clean are as quiet as you could want (quieter than both my others once all Degritted). If you'd never heard this youd live with the Mofi or OG happily and just say "oh its the source not the mastering" as to why it doesnt sound ideal either way. That it maybe and listenable enough though others are, they cannot be mistaken for the smooth, golden rich beauty of this version which makes all others sound abit broken. This also includes the Blu Ray audio and the Sacds... ive tried hard to beat the Nimbus but i dont think any edition can. If the OG master is out there somewhere in great shape i would still like to hear Bernie G do a double 45rpm for AP or the likes. In fact id love all first four Supertramp records done as such!

Edited 3 years agoThe previous accolades are well deserved here, this is an amazing pressing. Dynamic, open, detailed, giving a broad and deep soundstage on a very quiet background - and still well balanced across frequencies. I've heard a wide range of pressings of this album from US and UK first pressings to the CBS Mastersound to the MoFi's - this is now my go-to.

Wow, this version is so ALIVE, fantastic pressing. How many were pressed? 500 or 1500?
FYI I found this online : Nimbus Supercut LPs were released as a mail order only promotion to Practical Hi-Fi or Hi-Fi Today magazine readers during the early 1980s and were available in limited quantities of around 1000 pressings per title All releases were mastered from the the original master tapes, through an all valve mastering process, using no limiting, to result in a high quality pressing which was as close as possible in sound to the original recording. Nimbus also had ICI produce an extremely pure vinyl for these cuts. All titles have a sticker on the main sleeve and 'Nimbus England' stamped in the dead wax. -
Edited 3 years agoMy copy has some pops and clicks after cleaning, but even through that its clearly amazing. The detail and dynamics are second to none and I was skeptical. Wholly sublime, I would say this was worth my $150. Take that with what you will.
