Edited 18 hours agoJust magnificent...
A flat and silent pressing.
However, the first copy I bought was utterly abysmal. Snap and crackle and pop, oh my; An unlistenable travesty. Cleaning didn't help. Back it went to Amazon.
I replaced it with the "Back To Black" stickered version and it is a thing of great beauty... Nigh on perfect!

Interesting album which I didn't know, good sounding, pressing fine, wants to wash more than once.
Played on:
Technics SL-100C, Audio Technica VM-95ML, Rega Fono Mini A2D MK2, Technics SU-G700M2, Yamaha NS-777 -

Edited 6 months agoI’ve got one of the early pressings with the sticker on the front. Maybe that’s a clue for those concerned about the mixed reviews? Mine is definitely audiophile level. Flat, dynamic and great separation. Slight surface noise now and then but I haven’t given it a thorough liquid clean yet.

I am VERY happy about this pressing. I was kinda worried about how it would sound, given the fact how quietly this record is recorded, but I was both relieved and pleasantly surprised - it sounds fantastic, quiet, and well-balanced. Highly recommend!

Edited one year agoI just picked up a copy of this at Sunrise Records here in Canada (west coast)
I was worried based off the reviews, but this album is now hard to come by in local shops - so I took the plunge and I have not regretted it one bit!
Despite no poly-sleeve the record was clean and mark free and without any warps.
After a quick brush clean, and a quick play - it sounded great with no issues out of the sleeve.
I then gave it a good deep clean and played it again, and it's totally silent with no surface noise what so ever.
This holy grail of mine has now been found, and is an impeccable pressing in every way shape and form; the mastering is very dynamic, the warmth is very much there and the sound stage is amazingly wide and enveloping.
Take the risk - good copies are out there! -
First copy that I received was absolutely the worst, I haven't seen anything like that before! It had some serious damage on outer grooves of side A, like somebody had used a knife to carve the surface. The second copy I received is almost flawless, really nice sound.

Copies of this seem to be hit and miss, based on the reviews below. My copy isn't that great even after cleaning - lots of crackles, which on an album that has a lot of quiet sections, is disappointing.
