The CD sounds OK until you turn it up; then the piano starts to sounds a little raw and distorted. The trumpet and sax sound really good, bass is fine, percussion has good presence, could pop a little more. I notice that a previous reviewer says the vinyl sounds better, and I think I will try to pick up a copy on vinyl. I really enjoy listening to this album, and it grows in stature the more I listen, but the sound falls a little short.

Sounds very good. My Blue Note Classic series vinyl version does sound better -more “natural” but if you’re a CD person this version is great plus it has a bonus track.
