Jagjaguwar is infamous for inconsistent pressings. I've been lucky so far, until now. My copy has a ton of surface noise even after a thorough wet cleaning. Fortunately the Dino noise drowns most of it out. But the intense inner groove distortion makes the last track on each side all but unlistenable.

Feels like the folks who are complaining about the mix / sound of this record aren’t too familiar with the Dinosaur sound. This sounds totally great for what it is. Classic Dino fuzz.

Picked up a copy today … good news its flat and silent great physical press. The sound!? I love it! Sounds like classic D Jr. from the first SST albums, sorry to hear folks complaining about “ a bad master” or whatever but i think this is the intended low-fi sound and its nowhere near as bad as some of these reviews are making it out to be, nothing is buried … the vocals, bass, drums and guitar are all well represented and mixed well. Also some great songs and hooks and a ton of acid drenched guitar, there u have it imho some old school Dinosaur Jr. … love it!
So ive had this for about a week now and im so glad i bought this! I almost took it back after reading these comments ( so glad i did not! ) -this may be one of their best albums including the SST years

Just bought this from the merch booth after their show... The sound quality on my copy of this album is very muddy. The vinyl is quite wavy/warped and causes the tone arm to jump. Kinda bummed.

My copy is clean and flat and (mostly) quiet (some ticks here and there), but general sound quality is not that good. No depth, no presence, just kind of blah. You can crank it and that helps, but this is a record that should have some real visceral punch and it doesn't. Drums sound like someone hitting a paper bag. Maybe the length (nearly 47 minutes) has something to do with it? I don't know.

My record is dead silent with zero pops or clicks, guitar washes around the place in layers with lead and vocals cutting through. comes across as a warm analogue feel, A little warped however..

I would say the sound of this record is... okay. It certainly isn't what I would expect from a contemporary album pressed in 2016, during a period where labels should be capitalizing on a resurgence of interest in vinyl. It's interesting to read the comments of other reviewers. I found the bass frequencies overwhelming, while another reviewer said the drums and bass on his/her copy were "almost nonexistent." Another reviewer said his/her copy was "flat and quiet," which I interpreted as a positive review, but I hear frequent pops and a lot of surface noise, particularly in the fade outs. Additionally, I would say the songs on my copy of the record are unquestionably less dynamic than the digital files. To be clear, I'm not disagreeing with anyone else's review; rather, I'm offering an honest review of how my particular copy sounds. I have been streaming this record since it was released and only recently picked up the LP, and I can honestly say streaming this album is a superior experience to my vinyl pressing, which is not an argument you'll hear me make often.

After reading a reply to one of the reviews that suggests there are frequent problems with Jagjaguwar LPs, I will probably think twice about purchasing their releases in the future. I also own Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago, and I found that record to have a lot of surface noise, too.

My copy is flat and quiet. The sound is Dinosaur Jr so you have to expect the guitars louder than anything else. That is who they are.

Drums and bass are almost nonexistent on my copy. Must have the J Mascis screaming guitars mix. Too bad. Digital files sound great.
