Edited 10 months agoHave had this one for a few years, and recently decided to the Kevin Gray SRC press. I love all of Kevin’s work and this is one of my favorite albums, so I decided to pull the trigger once I found a decently priced copy.
I have to say - the Kevin Gray press is a bit better, but this one is still damn good. I’ve always liked Optimal’s mastering work, specifically Marlo Kluge (MK) who mastered this one. This one has a punchy low end and really nice balance / soundstage. The only knock I have on it is that the drum sounds suffer from a bit of compression in the high end, but the low end and mids are fantastic.
A great alternative if you don’t want to break the bank on a Kevin Gray / SRC press. Or, if you’re a stickler for having the Asthenia / Always transition intact, this may be the best version for you. Well worth the ~$40 it goes for. -
Does anybody have the runout info on this pressing? I think I might have a boot that hasn’t been listed on Discogs. The runouts on my copy are:

Find this at the proper retail price without being scalped and you’ll be very happy. For a Back To Black this is a surprisingly good press. Very clear and a nice package, just replace those initial inner sleeves. -
Edited 3 years agoI bought this for my Wife as she this is her favorite album by them. I’m no big fan of Blink-182 by all means but I really got to feel what they are capable of. I listen to it with her and I was very impress. The packaging is amazing. Came in with nice sleeves for the vinyls, gatefold with all the lyrics in handwriting with bands notes on the songs.
Absolute no surface noise, which definitely got me hook to listen to this. The soundstage is amazing. The instrument separation is spread perfectly. No compression and distortion anywhere, you can blast the speakers with no problem.
Back to Black did a superb job on this pressing. For the price I’m surprise how cheap it is. Don’t miss your opportunity to get this.
