There’s going to be a 2xCD pREServed edition of Gingerbread Man coming out on May 28th of this year. It also be released on vinyl on the same day.

Edited 19 years agoAlthough only thirty-six minutes long this is one The Residents' most interesting and musically fascinating albums. The reason being that the album is more an extended song rather than an LP and the song is very, very good. The Residents, realising this was one catchy little number, decided to use this 'theme tune' as a leit motif that recurs constantly throughout the album as the basis for each song from which each song then branches off into it's own sub-song before coming back to the recurring theme of the LP. Superb.
And aside from the music itself, the lyrics are of course deeply profound, moving, sarcastic, twisted and funny in their own strange way - everything you might expect from this unique group of musicians.
The album's surprising lack of musical harshness (as can often be found in many Residents' recordings) as well as its brevity makes it an ideal start for the novice Residents listener.
It is absolutely outstanding. Go find it if you haven't heard it already.
