FYI, there’s a new version of this without the booklet, readily available at the moment. -
That I’m such a late-to-the-party Zevon fan baffles me. I guess I just had a block on the guy. I adore all the Zevon-adjacent artists and was moving right there in the 80’s and 90’s when Warren was still plugging away. And when he ed I certainly noted it, even knowing that he recorded this very album with all his more-famous friends and that it was very well received. And then one day I put on Excitable Boy and everything just clicked. And I kick myself every day for not realizing his genius and artistry sooner.
Listening to this album and knowing the circumstances under which it was released is devastating. Full of sorrow and longing for a life he knows he will never have, made all the worse/better by poignant and chilling songcraft. -

Excellent pressing. You can tell it was remastered specifically for vinyl. Definitely the best way to listen to this album. -
