Great mastering on this version . Dynamics is clear and sub bass is punchy . Seems like Styx is underrated now , probably more will appreciate their music in the future .

My grandpa was the engineer so I grew up listening to this album, I have not heard a Japan OG which I suspect is the best. But I have heard the other half speed master, and the OG US pressing, and this super disc. The OG US pressing wins everytime. The mixing is fantastic and clean and is fully dynamic and present on a clean copy of an OG US. I wanted this to triumph over my OG US because of the much higher price but it simply doesn’t.

Very nice example for a very nice sounding record, made in Holland... It is really a pleasure to listen, although my copy is a bit worn out, it is still a very nice sound. Recommended!!

Dead quiet and flat. Nice glossy gatefold outer. Inner is thin white cardboard material rather then than the original heavy thick silver- but using the same design. Quality pressing. Anyone know if they did Equinox, Crystal Ball or Grand Illusion in this series?

This is a classic Styx album and sounds superb. Recording, production and ptressing are very well made. Here we have really good prog rock album.

Hi Jerry,
I also have the exact same matrix into as you. It's not this one I'm afraid, but go back to the list and go down to the next UK entry. It's that one. " tone" makes it different. That was the guy who did the mastering and prepared the laquers. I have a few other albums from around this era also with " tone" written in the run out grooves.
Yes it sounds fabulous
I love Styx and those naysayers who say they are cheesy corporate rock, well firstly isn't cheese fabulous ? I say yes it is and having listened to a recent interview between Dennis and Pete Pardo of Sea of Tranquility, I very much doubt that Styx had much in the way of corporate sponsorship. They were just playing rock when rock especially prog/pomp rock was very out of fashion here in the UK. When this album came out new wave and post punk was very much flavour of the month. The music press hated Styx and bands like them eg Kansas and Boston etc. But with the benefit of forty years I think we can now relisten to our Styx albums without any hint of irony.
I love this band. -
