Hi Jerry,
I also have the exact same matrix into as you. It's not this one I'm afraid, but go back to the list and go down to the next UK entry. It's that one. " tone" makes it different. That was the guy who did the mastering and prepared the laquers. I have a few other albums from around this era also with " tone" written in the run out grooves.
Yes it sounds fabulous
I love Styx and those naysayers who say they are cheesy corporate rock, well firstly isn't cheese fabulous ? I say yes it is and having listened to a recent interview between Dennis and Pete Pardo of Sea of Tranquility, I very much doubt that Styx had much in the way of corporate sponsorship. They were just playing rock when rock especially prog/pomp rock was very out of fashion here in the UK. When this album came out new wave and post punk was very much flavour of the month. The music press hated Styx and bands like them eg Kansas and Boston etc. But with the benefit of forty years I think we can now relisten to our Styx albums without any hint of irony.
I love this band. -
I have this version with matrices AMK-63711-A2 tone and AMLK-63711-B2 (all etched). Label Side A: Produced by Styx Stygian Songs (1-5) and Label Side B: Produced by Styx Rondor Music (London) Ltd (1-4).
