Talk Talk – It's My Life

I’ve had two copies and both have sounded bad. It’s my Life is unlistenable. No point in good mastering when the pressing is bad. Avoid.

This pressing sounds otherworldly, and this is a fantastic collection of Talk Talk songs that go pretty much undiscussed outside of the classic title track. Sure, this is a far cry from the type of earth shattering transcendental music the band would come to create, but as a standalone 80s synth-pop album this might be my favorite ever. Everything here is so inventive and colorful, it’s impossible not to have a smile glued to your face while playing this record. If you’re only familiar with the late-career Talk Talk albums, give this one a try, it’s a fantastic sampler of their sound without being too high concept or that far outside the box. Still, lots of super cool things going on here that separates it from your average 80s pop record. Highly highly recommended.

It’s my life sounds really bad, this is not a good pressing.

All of Side A sounded great until “It’s My Life” which is obviously a real shame. I think it’s suffering from inner-groove-distortion as it’s the final track on Side A. I got this from Amazon so I will try to return and replace and hope for better luck. Has anyone else noticed this issue on Track 4? I’m playing Side B now.

Tomorrow Started is full of static that just seems to be part of the pressing. There's a LOT of crackle noise for the entire song, and two full runs through an ultrasonic cleaner couldn't fix it. Otherwise, a good-sounding record - the noise isn't present in any of the other tracks.

Did everyone get the same record? Very veiled sounding, like a lifelike EQ was just notched out. Did a shootout with this and an original UK and the UK sounded more open and full of life, only advantage here was that the remaster is quiet but I’m disappointed

Great pressing, no surface noise whatsoever. The overall sound is expansive with exceptional spacing. I stumbled upon it in the wild and for a relatively cheap buy I’m really impressed with how good this record sounds. Highly recommended!

Cut a little hot and high in the treble department, but if you play it at the right volume....this pressing slaps! Definitely not a bad 'players copy'.

Agree with others - this improves on my 1984 UK original pressing.

Until now, Matt Colton mastered pressings (may have been the sources) have never impressed me.

Mine dead quiet. The original is impressive so theyve done well to improve. Recommended
