This is an LP that I have owned for fifty years and still listen to. That must speak volumes about the recording and it's worth or, conversely, about my weirdness. The recording was made before the advent of stereo, but the sound quality is top-notch, even impressive. It was amazing to hear when I bought it in 1958 because of the sound, but also for the content because it is all talk and sound - no music. The sounds of a bowling alley and of a jet taking off, while monaural, are as real as if they were recorded digitally in stereo.
Some of the cuts are very humourous, "George's Mother" for example, "Breaking the Habit" and "Guitar for Sale". At the same time they can be rather disturbing as in "Drums in My Typewriter", "A Visit to My Best Girl", and "Quiet Children". If you want to learn a twist to fight back against telemarketers, then give a listen to "Telephone Therapy". This LP is in my will because I prize it so highly.
