Man does this album grow on you the more you listen to it. Very nice sounding Canadian pressing -

This is some kind of early 70's release I think. No complaints here, sounds nice. Harmonica can get shrill at times but that's harmonicas for you. Whoever had this vinyl before me took good care of it. When I first got into Dylan many years ago I found this album bland. It sure isn't. -

I own 3 different Columbia Canada 2-eye stereo LP pressings of John Wesley Harding. The above entry should be split in two, as it contains the matrix numbers of 2 different lacquer cuts, and LP pressings, -1F and -1H.
The matrix numbers ending in -1F/-1F are etched. The <-"360 SOUND" STEREO "360 SOUND"-> on the LP labels are in black, as shown in the above entry. The lacquers would have been cut locally from a 1 to 1 tape copy of the master, supplied to Columbia Canada.
The matrix numbers ending in -1H/-1H are machine stamped. Metal parts would have been supplied from Columbia, New York. The <-"360 SOUND" STEREO "360 SOUND"-> text was printed in white. The black font text on this particular LP is different from the two other black font text Canadian LP entries with the white 30 SOUND text.
The LP with the -1H machine stamped matrix numbers and the white text should get a separate entry. As mentioned in the previous review the -1H was the first Canadian pressing. -
Edited one month agoOut of all the Hybrid SACD releases this is the one I’ve been most interested in picking up. I wanted to see if they had tempered the harmonica, which is pretty harsh at times - I think they have and it sounds superb.

Amazing sound quality. Very direct and live. Maybe too much of that earpeacing mouth organ. -

In the notes it say that this not a “true mono mix”. This statement was copied from the incredible website searchingforagem.com and if you visit that website today, you will find that the author has corrected this inaccuracy. The UK Mono mix is the same as the proper US Mono mix (which isn’t a fold down). -
This is by far and away the best version of this great great record.
The bass guitar sounds unbelievable mighty.
It doesn’t matter if it is expensive or not.
If you only want to have a single super sounding mono record, this is the one! -

Edited 4 months agoVery good pressing. The mix is a bit weird (drums in right chnl only), but the sound is great and Bob’s voice sounds perfect. Besides the drums, this may as well be a Mono version. Very glad I have this.
