Everybody I've ever known (OK, not EVERYBODY, but a pretty high percentage) has had a copy of this album, no matter the format or condition. So, big deal, I have an early release CD, One of the first CDs I bought, in fact. I sinned Van somewhere by not having a warm ol' Vinyl to snuggle up to, and guard with my life. That's sort of how I feel about a man's masterwork. It's as if he has given us custody of the pinnacle of his career, his Mona Lisa, his "soul". It deserves our best care, even when just listening. This is not a Driving CD or a cleaning the house CD, or even a Barbecue CD to me. It's a sit back in a comfy chair or lying on the couch, or even in a hot bath, and giving it my full attention, and listen to Van create emotion and weave dreamscapes with the turn of a phrase (probably an old Irish one,) and a change of a chord, plucked from anywhere music has ever lived. On this album, there's a great deal of Jazz showing up where you might have expected blues or rock or even pure "Brown Eyed Girl" Pop. So, fight the temptation to buy a Van Morrison Greatest Hits Comp or something similar to get your Moondance Fix. Buy the rarity, the Album that exists as a Whole for a good reason. Van wanted it that way. Excuse me, I have to go look for an old friend on E-Bay.
    Peace, Joey G.
