Finally found a super clean 1st. This record is almost always trashed because it was played on repeat! And for good reason. What a groove. -

Edited 6 years agoAn overlooked jem in the Byrd catalog. I have owned a large amount of his records and this is up at the top with Kofi, Knights, etc. Byrd went through a lot of styles, etc but this is some of his finest. It's not overly innovative or anything (at times you can hear influence from Hancock, Silver, etc) but just a solid date that hits the spot for me. The band should say a lot. Walton really shines and gives the record a unique tone but nobody sounds bad here. Essential in my book.
