This is a masterfully crafted work, only few people are able to create an entire album out of a loop that keep changing scenarios and almost makes it disappear from your brain. at the same time is not a record for everyone, there must be a deep connection with nature to understand what he is doing. This album album explains very well how music can be perceived totally differently if you feel the nature and you become one.

Wolfgang Voigt's latest release as Gas is a masterful seamless collage. It has a subtly modulating kick drum that binds the movements and tracks together throughout nearly the whole album. There are previous tracks in the mix from Zauberberg, Pop etc, but these are not a sign of laziness. The album as a whole seems like a summation of Gas's musical journey since the 90's, and the use of familiar material presented in a fresh way serves that purpose very well.
There are the ambient leaning soundscapes, classical instrumentation and the trademark subtle drones and vinyl crackles that surround the driving beat. The album as a whole rewards repeated listening and is a fantastic hypnotic voyage through the intriguing hybrid of the electronic and the organic that is Gas. -

This release almost feels like Voigt doing a DJ set of his older material. I swear some of these textures/progressions have appeared on previous albums. Not complaining though!
Also i thought I was going crazy hearing that beep sound when I first streamed on Spotify. Glad I wasn’t hallucinating haha -
Wow.
This is majestic and up there with his best work and at the same time a reminiscence of his best work.
I'm totally stunned and in awe.
....nothing more to say. -

No funny sound issues in the vinyl, btw.

Edited 3 years agoListened the whole album twice, once with headphones, and am not hearing the high pitched beep that many are referring to. When does it begin and what should I be listening for (obviously an annoying high pitch beep, but any cues?)
Edited: ok I thought I heard something at 3:26, 3:33, 3:53, and 3:59 during Der Lange Marsch 3 - but that segment was pretty high up in the treble clef, and sounded more like a harmonic to me -

Volfie adds high pitch beeping to let us all know he has tinnitus. If I can’t have my cake, neither can you. Wahhh.

recognise quite a few of the textures in this from other albums, the tracks are not exclusively 'new' shall we say. still decent tho! classic GAS!
