Back in the day in San Francisco, the track people always went nuts for when played out was Transcendental Funk Bump. It was a seminal San Francisco underground track. Don't get me wrong, Halucifuge is an amazing track. Again, in SF, the version played out at clubs was the Freaky Chicken Peck because of the breakbeat. This first record by Daum catapulted him into the inner circle of the underground scene at the time.

Dom and I go way back. he had a New Year's eve gig at Simons where I played. got snowed (ya, Florida once in a decade) in so we spent several days together before he could fly out. super good guy, super good music.

The Blind Dive is reason enough that this is a classic, but my sets included ‘Trancendental Funk Bump’ more often than it. From the ‘Fat Albert theme’ sample to the spiraling bass breakdown. Some serious ass shaking funk bump. “Free your mind & your ass will follow…”

A wonderful and classic West Coast underground dance EP. IMO - a must have. Luckily, I bought 1 and played it to death and also bought a backup a few years into knowing how important this record is. Big ups to Daum Bentley - friend and amazing producer. Cheers, brother!

Does anyone know where the samples from "Blind Dive" originate from? "You are in the light." etc etc

Wow, this price sure jumped up. I got this and 9 other Exist Dace 12" probably 15 years ago for pennies. Anyway, Blind Dive is WICKED!

Goa Gil played this at the first party of the 1993 party season in Anjuna Beach at Club Paradiso. I knew Daum in San Francisco in 91-92. He went to all of the parties. Really nice guy.

According to some stories, Duam was something of a commotion prior to the release of this record. The powers that were at the time (hardkiss, exist dance, and several others) were trying to figure out who should release the freaky chakra record.
Once this record did see the light of day, we kinda know the rest of the story. Amazing record, completely amazing, and a staple in the sets of many many a dj. One of the cornerstone records that summed up the emerging west coast vibe to a T. We will rock you with the freaked out trippy funk.
                      Open wide and freak out.
