An absolute masterpiece of the Berlin-School scene, and this coming from Western to boot. At the time very little influence was available from the other side of the wall, and western civilization in general, but nevertheless this extremely beautiful electrical soundscape somehow arrived.
The album is much less organic and pulsing than the works of Tangerine dream and many other Berlin-School imitators of Froese. Instead this is much more chirping and sonically bright, working with short harmonies and cheery notes throughout much of the album. It’s a whirlwind of whirs and hums, light blips perfectly punctuating a spacey atmosphere. Extraordinary in its vision and creativity alone, but enjoyable also for a relaxing and happy listening experience.

The quality of the Vinylprint is excellent ! My copy doesnt crackl or doesnt make any unwanted sound after all these years. Compare that to some recent pressings ... -
Edited 8 years agoI'm willing to bet Vangelis didn't get his copyright dues for Cassiopeia, seeing as he receives no credit. A blatant rework of the Blade Runner theme with some fun "game over" phasing sounds in place of the orchestra.
Ditto Moroder & Zeitmaschine.
