BRILLIANT. "Fossora", like "Utopia" at one time, adds with each listening: after the second one, I hotly canceled the pre-order of the record, after five more - I ordered it again.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend getting any of the initial pressings of this album as they're missing essential elements from the final mix.
Her Mother's House is completely ruined by the lack of weird, floaty falsetto vocals that swirl around the final version of the track. Ovule was also missing a pivotal choir embellishment after the "showing teeth line." Her children's vocals are also missing from Ancestress which slightly worsens that song.
If these aren't big issues for you the pressing is good but I was extremely disappointed. The aforementioned moment in Ovule is my favourite moment of the entire album and I can't stand the last track without the amazing vocals that are missing. The vinyl versions can be found on youtube for anyone tossing it up. -

After I couldn't decide which color to choose, I simply went for the standard black vinyl edition - and I'm quite thankful for it. Despite hearing warnings about pressing defects, pops, clicks and background noise, I was pleasantly surprised to find out the (or at least my) black pressing is actually demo disc quality material. Holographic sound that fills the room, super clear and silent vinyl with maybe one very small click during the whole album (first play without any cleaning). Maybe I got lucky - or maybe the - in comparison to the color variants also much cheaper - black vinyl is the way to go here. I also listened to the CD master and the 24/96 FLAC digital version. Plenty of people seem to prefer the "updated" version 1.1 mix with her children voices in the background and the softer beats - yet again, having heard the digital version of Fossora before, I prefer the "original 1.0" mix on vinyl. I guess for fans its essential to own or at least listen to both mixes - my pick is done. It's also the first Björk album that I really seem to dissolve into since the meanwhile 10 year old "Biophilia". Björk is 56 years old now, yet her persona seems so timeless. Artistically, the new LP brings back "good old" Björk soundscapes and adds sparkles of magic mushroom mycelia on top. I like this music a lot. And if you worry about pressing quality, I'd urge you to go for black here despite all those other pretty colours - that is, if you care for sound quality. Pretty colours can be added by yourself too while listening :)

Have picked up 2 new copies and can echo the sentiments of noise issues on LP 2. One copy had fairly loud ticking for the first 30 seconds of Side 3 and brief some noise/pops on Side 4, while another copy didn't have these issues but did have terrible ticking/noise halfway thru Side 3 to the point that I just gave up. As others have stated the overall sound is great minus these blemishes. Fascinating album and lovely packaging....just wish it wasn't a chore trying to find a copy without the pressing hiccups.

I really enjoy the quality of the pressing. My sleeve was damaged some when I bought it, but luckily the discs were in perfect condition. I just hate that Björk's kids were not included in this version. They added so much to their respective tracks.

The backgrounds vocals of her children add so much to the tracks, especially on "Ancestress" - it's a bit sad that she took the decision to add their vocals after the album was sent to the pressing plant.
The highs are a bit distorted but nothing too worrying.
Overall: a lovely sounding record with an awesome packaging.. Björk does it again! -
I’m getting the clear vinyl as a gift later this year, so I bought this variant in the meantime. Sound is clear although the highs are slightly lacking (a weird issue that affects many of Björk’s albums). Very very little surface noise, flat discs. I love the fact that it has the cover with the bigger mushrooms which I prefer over the smaller mushroomed cover. Overall, good release to pick up!

Disc 2 is warped and Side D has some noise by the end (sounds like slight dirt in grooves, mostly). But apart from it it's a magnificent release, with great clear mastering, beautiful artwork and wonderful music.
