Walter Becker has stated that this is a bootleg from a digital source
Buy the Analog Productions 45 rpm - it takes the wonderful sounding RSD and brings out even more detail, air etc -
I just cleaned and played my copy from 2000. It sounds FANTASTIC even when compared to the Record Shop Drop reissue. No complaints if you can get your hands on a copy for the serious collectors.

Edited 4 years agoThis is getting reissued for Record Store Day 2021 on June 12 (first drop). Limited to 10,000 copies with half going to the US. Album will be on 2xLP mastered by Scott Hull. There is also going to be an etching on Side D.

Edited 3 years agoI got this record. Ordered it in my local record shop for a normal price. I'm talking about the originals. Had no idea that Two Against Nature would go for 600 $ nowadays.

I own a copy of this on vinyl. Found it at a record show in Chicago in 2017. The dealer said he bought it new when it came out and I paid him $100 for it. It comes in a single cardboard cover with a white paper sleeve and no lyric sheet. Sure it's not 180 gram but very few were in 2000 and it was probably copied from the CD masters. But so what, so are many of todays releases so what's the difference. Most artists don't have complete control over their stash and this was probably the case when a pressing plant in did a short vinyl run. I think the sound is very clean and punchy if not totally analog sounding. It is and always will be the 1st vinyl pressing of this gem. I'm sure sometime in the near future Fagen will release a complete vinyl box set of Steely Dan which includes not only this title but a re release of Everything Must Go and Alive In America.

Edited 4 years agoVinyl, wow 53+ minutes on a single vinyl disc......grooves are tiny, bass is greatly reduced, surface noise probably.

Mr.Fonk your'e damm right, prices are outrageous, esp given the fact the y2k vinyl just sucks quality-wise in comparison to the bog-std CD and esp the DVD-A releases. Given Giant have been busy placing vinyl of Fagen/Dan into shops recently, i believe relief is close...

shit, this really needs to be repressed. Damn 2000s, nobody cared shit for Vinyl anymore, not even Steely dan fans?! So sad...
