Edited 9 months agoincredible, dynamic & flawless sound. Dare I say one of the most perfect sounding recordings ever pressed to wax. Every song is killer and the music is to die for, also notable is that Smooth Operator here is the rare original uk mix that has been sured in pop culture by the more reverb heavy American radio mix, I don't personally have a preference but for my money there is a more emotive pull to the drier uk mix, all in all this is a must own lp for any collection.

After doing an A/B comparison, the UK TimTom cut is definitely superior to the U.S. edition. Better low end especially, that bass sounds absolutely splendid. More "audiophile" than most audiophile releases.
However, if you grew up in the States, you also need the 1985 U.S. Portrait cut to get the "right" version of Smooth Operator (more reverb, saxophone just before the first verse). The UK vinyl has the first version of Smooth Operator with a very different vocal take, different sax performance, and a much drier mix. -
Is there a CD version with the extended cut of Smooth Operator (/Red Eye) and Spirit as bonus tracks?
