The MoFi version of this release is an absolute revelation to my ears. I’ve listened to the CD for years and have listened to all of the Raw Basement tapes. I’ve always wanted to like this album more than I actually do — by that I mean I wish I listened to it more because I recognize and appreciate the legacy and I love the songs. I just always hated the sound of this album and listening made it a chore for me. This release is so spacious, it feels like new life is being breathed into these releases and it’s easy to forget the “bootleg” nature of the source material. By far this is the best I’ve heard these songs and the sound finally matches their legacy imo. Incredible release.

My copy came with two of the second record. If anyone out there happens to have two copies of the first record and wants to make a trade give me a holler.

I agree with the first reviewer to a “T”. This sounds great. They made the low fi recording into a great sounding 2 record set. This is by far and away the best edition of the basement tapes that I own. MO FI did a fantastic job - very clear sounding. I love this.

I actually own this and can confirm that it sounds remarkable, such an improvement. I too was skeptical because the recordings were so primitive; but it was on sale and so...anyway, I have an original Columbia issue, and the Raw box set—this smokes both those in of quality. Much more clarity and depth. They did a great job. The best you could hope for for these recordings: cleaned up and pretty.
