This record sounds really fucking good. Probably had something to do with the original mastering, but this is excellent
-
Honestly, I don't hear the magic that people are talking about with this record. The 2020 reissue sounds the same if not better. Haven't heard the UK original but I've heard that copy sounds great too.
-
Edited 3 years agoWhoops, MFSL accidentally (or perhaps completely intentionally) made this album listenable. Whoops, it's since become one of my favorite Pixies albums. Completely blows standard CD copies out of the water, and completely fun to crank up to max volume.
-
I am a big MoFi fan, but I have to say that I greatly prefer the UK original of this album to the MoFi pressing. The MoFi sounds more compressed, less dynamic and less inviting. It's still a good sounding record, but it doesn't have the same life as the original. IMO, if looking to purchase a copy of this album, I would go for the original before this one.
-
without a doubt, this is the finest sounding record i own. i was unfamiliar with this label beforehand, and i can only say that it sounds like i'm in the goddamn studio. amazing.

Edited 7 years agoJust picked this up from Juno - what a brilliant pressing, wonderfully remastered and with articulate treble, something the original never had. Thoroughly recommended release from MFSL
-
Brilliant pressing. When people talk about pressings being "crankable", this is what they mean. Normally it'd be quite hard to listen to this at high volume, but this is a rare exception.
-
Edited 8 years agoThis pressing blows away the original one. It's a pity that I can't say the same thing for the Bossanova pressing by MoFi.
