I like this release because, unlike the first pressing, it has a balanced and harmonious sound. All the songs intertwine perfectly with each other and there is no discrepancy in the rather instrumental parts of the songs. The dynamic range is much greater, despite the quiet stereo processing. Each part is recorded very carefully and smoothly. As for the album's design, they decided not to change anything... Except for putting the photo from the single "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the foreground, and then, as it should be, making the original booklet. A night opera that I still love to listen to :)

Edited one year agoThis was the start of the Bob Ludwig 1/2 Speed back in 2005. He did them all and they were released on CD by 2011.
The vinyl following in 2015 onwards.
All the masters were transferred to digital in high resolution files. Clean up were done etc!
It’s a pity that they didn’t do analog on all the analog albums up to The Works, like on the NOTW box set from 2017. That vinyl was from an all analog chain. It sounds better than the 1/2 Speed version. I have both.
Digital is a safer bet now and easier to work with I guess.
But The Complete Works box set from 1985 is also digitally remastered for the vinyl.
The first CD issues of Queen back catalog came out in late 1986. It says Mack did them at Sterling Sound, NY, but a few are done by Peter Vince and Peter Mew! -
This version is fantastic. Sold my original first press UK release which is muddy IMO. This is as good as it gets for this release. Everything that came after was a digital transfer. Not a great recording to begin with but Bob Lugwig did a hell of a job with this one.
