Quite the double-edged pressing..

Something that really goes without saying is that the presentation here is incredible. Sturdy box, awesome imagery on the matryoshka-like sleeves on the inside, inner sleeves in the center of it all with lyrics to follow along to (which truthfully are quite thin & lack poly-lining, not horrible though). Only big negative is having to slice the sticker to open it properly, was quite the mission to get it done neatly.

The records aren't really of the same quality though, which really sucks to say. They're heavy-weight 180-ish gram slabs of wax, but are pressed unnecessarily quiet leaving quite massive run-outs on all four sides. There's a fair bit of sibilance distortion throughout, as well as some non-fill on Side C which results in some crackly distortion (most notably on Pneumonia). Don't know if it's universal to all copies, and it's pretty sporadic at that, but a shame nonetheless. Tiny bit of underlying surface noise as well which didn't budge with a wet clean. Bass is little thin too, could've done with wider grooves. Still a great listen despite this though, sounds just fine overall, also love that it features the full track transitions.

Still highly recommend this set, an awesome way of experiencing the album since it has much more than just sonic values.

Excellent press! One of the better sounder Björk albums I own. A little surface noisy in between tracks but nothing distracting. The colors are a nice touch too, love the orangey red and highlighter green!

I think this sounds just as good if not better than my colored pressing of this album, and having the transitions on vinyl is amazing! I also adore the packaging, it’s so big and fun. I was worried the discs would be super warped like the singles’ for this album’s pressings were due to the packaging, but I believe these discs are 180g and therefore they’re not warped! Super happy to have found this!

What a beautiful package. Can’t vouch for the surround sound DVD cause I don’t have that kind of setup, but the production is already great on this album so I’m not sure how it can sound much better than the CD. Found my copy at Reckless Records in Chicago for 20 bucks and it was worth it, definitely snag it if you can find it for a good price!

Reviewing every record in my collection;

To start, this Boxset is worth getting just because of its presentation alone. The big sleeves spelling the albums name are gorgeous, and the Boxsets quality itself is great (except maybe for the sleeves In which the vinyls come in that are paper thin)

The vinyl pressing itself is heavy and sound has big bass that for this album works great, especially on disc 2 (Disc 1 sounds great too, it's just that disc 2 really shines through) also, this is one of the few pressings that comes with the transitions between songs, so ditch the coloured ones in favor of this beautiful box

My copy is 2lp black with tplp460dmm etched in deadwax. 45 rpm. I cant find mine on discogs. Mine did not come in box and has different barcode.

Note! This pressing is the only pressing of Volta that includes transitions, so I recommend this version.
