Jean Michel Jarre* – En Attendant Cousteau

The fourth track is really good. If it's a nice discovery for someone, it would definitely be worth looking around a bit more in ambient. Maybe such a Brian Eno and his classic On Land or Apollo would be an exploration in the right direction. This version has a clear, sticker-free cassette version too, J-card absolutely the same. There is noted on the shell that it contains Super Avilyn tape inside which can be taken with a pinch of salt, but it's clearly a really dark brown, not the mid-brown of type 1 tapes. It reads: Super Avilyn Cassette Super High Resolution.
Sound quality is not bad, if I don't count the dropouts. It might be caused by wear, but my tape has big dropouts on both sides, mostly in the first minutes, despite the overall good condition of the tape itself.

Calypso 2 and 3 are the "proper" Jarre IMO, which he continued with Chronology.

Calypso 1 is too jolly, and Waiting For Cousteau is too "silent" (the 46 minute version had deserved a release by itself).

Very good sound quality indeed. Side 2 appears to have several 'non fill'-"crunches".

worth noting this is a chrome tape , sound quality is superb played on the right cassette deck.

Spine has the Chrome and Dolby symbols, but the tape has no Dolby symbol, just the Chrome logo. Sounds better with it off.

When I listen to En Attendant Cousteau it gives me the feeling that I am really in the underwater world of mister Cousteau.
Swimming around and seeing all these fishes and plants. The ultimate relax music in the dark with your eyes closed.

Why rename the tracks for this release? The name of the album is in english but the 4th track is named in french... what kind of sense does that make?

First 3 tracks can be skipped. But the 4th is absolutely wonderful. 4 stars only for it.

Released in 1990....many fans of JMJ dont rate this album very highly as his previous releases.
But I love it. I think it rates up there with his best work.
Still sounds as good 30 years later on vinyl as it did when released on CD all those years ago.
3 tracks on side A....1 track on side B.
Side A has fast to mid tempo music while side B is a beautifully relaxing underwater journey of 22 minutes.
I just love this album
