This version bests my original Kamera pressing, as it would now there is room to live. I had the privilege to call MES a friend and I asked him why this wasn’t this originally spread over 2 lp’s and his answer was double albums were bloated and it’s still sounded great on just the one. No argument there but this new one is a massive improvement. None of mine were warped and the all were dead quiet after giving them a deep cleaning. Great reissue of one of the best albums ever made!

Edited one year agoVery, very pleased with this pressing. Mine sounds great and zero issues with warping, although sorry to hear it happened to others. I'd be willing to bet this is even better than original pressings because it has the space it needs.
The content, of course... what can you say. The band was literally possessed by genius throughout this era, and this could well be the best of all of them. -
Records were flat, but the noise floor was much higher than I'd have expected given the reviews. The white vinyl is just that – a recipe for a higher noise floor – and it's a shame they didn't try to push this across 3 black carbonized virgin vinyl discs at 45rpm. A decent pressing for sure, but a missed opportunity given the gimmicky colored discs.

Truly spectacular presentation. Packaging 10/10, pressing 10/10. Super silent and especially surprising since they’re colour discs! My only nitpick is the track choices on LP3 - obviously the Peel session is essential but the cuts on side F feel very secondary, was there nothing else contemporaneous to put this imperial era in context? That aside, I wish all reissues, Fall or otherwise, were given this level of care and attention.
-
I’m undecided on the sound quality vs. another repress I have but I will say I don’t like changing the discs so frequently.
I’ll play them both and report back. -
The three Lp's are badly warped. I didn't listen, so I won't say anything about the quality. Return :(

Edited 4 years agoFirst Disc is warped and skips on “Fortress/Deer Park”
This is very annoying, because the sound quality of this version is very good and warm, and it has a very little surface noise in general. I only can blame Cherry Red for this, because in the coments a few have the same issue. -
Absolutely no issues here. Flat, dead silent, nice cut. AT-VM95ML->ProJect RPM 1.3 Genie->Marantz 2230

I’ve recently had a copy of this for Christmas, seems to play okay & sounds really loud & clear. 😀🌞✌🏻
